Madonna Laser Eye Lift

An Alternative to Eyelid Surgery?

The "Madonna Lift" has generated plenty of chatter recently, with many wondering how the ageless pop star (yes, Madonna) managed to get such a wide-eyed look without undergoing a traditional blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery. The non-surgical laser procedure that Madonna did to turn back the clock on her eyes is one that anyone can indulge in – and many probably already have without even knowing it. We've got the secret out, so you can get a Hollywood look right here at JMISKO surgical design md!

Where did the "Madonna Lift" come from?

The Madonna lift was pioneered by Dr. Bruce Katz of New York's Juva Skin and Laser Center. The procedure utilizes a fractionized CO2 laser called the SmartXide DOT. The laser that reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and lifts the eyebrow for a younger look to the eye. This tool has been used to perform a variety of functions, including skin resurfacing and the treatment of acne scars. Now it can give men and women a younger look by focusing on the eyelids and the rest of the eye area.

Fractional Lasers

Fractional lasers differ from other lasers used in cosmetic procedures. Instead of sending out a single, steady beam of light, the CO2 fractional laser emits light in columns. The columns address specific locations of skin, leaving surrounding areas untouched. This promotes collagen production, which in turn tightens up the skin in the area to make the eyes look more open. At the same time, skin damage is limited, so healing takes place much more quickly.

How is the Madonna Lift conducted?

The Madonna Lift reduces the appearance of dark circles and wrinkles around the eye, while tightening the upper and lower lids to alleviate a drooping eyelid and other aesthetic issues that lead to the eyes appearing older and tired all the time. Treatments are very quick, only a few minutes at a time, and three to five sessions every two or six weeks are generally required to achieve the desired results.

What is the Madonna Lift recovery process like?

Because there is no anesthesia used, recovery is relatively quick and easy. Since damage to skin tissue is also minimized, patients experience little discomfort during and after the procedure. While some redness and puffiness should be expected for a day or two afterward, the patient may immediately apply makeup after the procedure to disguise the discoloration. Doctors predict that results from the procedure may last five years. To prolong the effects, patients can also opt for a Botox injection soon after the procedure is complete.
